The Usual Suspects
Local performers highlight a successful Mission Zimbabwe Valentine Concert
On Saturday evening, February 10, 2018, the Mission Zimbabwe Project held its annual Valentine Concert at Victoria Jubilee Hall in Walkerton. The concert featured a variety of entertaining performances by local entertainers including Sebastian Ellis, The Usual Suspects, Cam Fletcher and Mike Derek. Sebastian Ellis kicked off the show with his energetic piano and vocal arrangements. Mike Derek followed with a set of mellow “crooner” songs. After intermission which featured free coffee donated by Ashanti Coffee, Cam Fletcher’s humor and bluegrass tunes really connected with the audience. The show concluded with a set by the popular “ Usual Suspects”. This was a special night for The Usual Suspects as this was their last performance together as a group. Also featured were two short video clips that featured the singing of the boys’ choir at the Village of Hope and the children at Vimbainesu Children’s Home.
Close to $2000.00 was raised that will be used to support the Village of Hope and Vimbainesu Children’s Home and donations toward a Textbook fund at the Village of Hope raised over $2000.00.
We would like to thank Victoria Jubilee Hall for allowing us to use their beautiful hall and for being so supportive of our Mission Zimbabwe Project. We also want to thank our sponsors Ashanti Coffee, Lakehouse Pantry and Collingwood Sweet Shoppe for providing gift baskets for the draws.
The next event is the New Mission Zimbabwe Maple Syrup Festival to be held for the first time
in Hanover on March 31st.
