Update 6

Dear Friends It is now Friday and our last day working with the school.  This may also be the last update to go out depending on our schedule for the rest of the trip.  I will try to get some out this wknd but it will be hard to after because we will be away from the village.  On Saturday, the men are having a work day with the men of the community followed by a meal with meat which is a  big deal for people here since some haven’t had it for a long time.  The women are having a women’s seminar where a few of them will be sharing their testimonies with the women of the village.  Elaine Kaster and I will be working with the youth in the afternoon.  At the end of the day we are all meeting back at the Village to have supper with the orphans in House 1 and 2.  The House Moms will prepare our dinner, but Donna Duquette and Dorothea are preparing the dessert — chocolate cake. This should be a special time, it certainly was last year. Thursday, Doug and Dorothea attended  the noon meeting of the Rotary Club of Harare.  Doug and I tried to get to a Rotary meeting last year but when we showed up for the meeting it had been cancelled.  However, on the flight from Johannesburg to Harare, Alex sat beside a Rotarian (Cliff) who invited us to his meeting.  At the meeting, Doug and Dorothea shared about the Village of Hope and the members expressed interest. One said he would like to come for a tour of the Village and another said he had experience bringing containers into the country.  They were able to exchange business cards and hopefully this contact leads to further oppurtunities to bless the Village and the people of Zimbabwe. We had our last our volleyball practise with the children Thursday and although they don’t know what an actual game looks like they are well on their way to being talented young athletes.  We are leaving them in the capable hands of Mr. Musasa and his teachers.  Unfortuanately, I wasn’t feeling well and took the afternoon off to rest, so Barry was left on his own, but he made good use of the teachers helping. Thursday was also our day to run the after-school discipleship program.  The team really enjoyed spending time with the children.  There was 95 children of all ages that attended.  They spent their time immitating various animals for the Noah’s Ark devotion.  They went on the ark 2 by 2, and left it 20 by 20, I wasn’t there, but according to the team the presentation was funny and well received by the children. On Thursday, if you were listening to Radio 98 The Beach, Porft Elgin, Ontario - “The Voice of the Saugeen Shoreline”, you would have heard Barry, Donna Duquette and Mrs. Zowa interviewed. The fact that it went off without a hitch is a miracle.  Mrs. Zowa did an amazing job and spoke from her heart, a woman of the Lord for sure. Members of the team will be interviewed on Friday on Rado CFOS Owen Sound to share our story as well.
